WALKING PICTORIAL TOUR: Arcata is a small town on Humboldt Bay,  located about 5 hours up the coast from San Francisco.  Most all of the Redwood that built San Francisco (twice) came through the town and at one time the town was wall to wall Victorian.   What was a rich history of Victorian architecture has been reduced to only a few grand old buildings.  The town leveled over the years to make room for cheap student housing for the local college.  A real shame.  Still some nice examples remain and find here some pictures I took recently.

NOTE:  Clicking on the thumbnails will bring up a large detailed pictures.  I did not compress them to allow for detailed examination.  Pictures takes with a Nikon D60 and only filtered to contrast to bring out detail in shadows.
