" Manufactured wood or Solid Cedar -

Find below the Spandrel system that I offer. Rather than use the little round turned pine pegs between two strips of wood that tend to break, I have constructed this spandrel system to be made from a single solid piece of wood. They are strong and will hold up to storms, wayward birds, and any other natural enemy of the spandrel.

All of our spandrels are available in either our standard one inch thick Manufactured Wood, or in our one inch thick Western Red Cedar - Please call to order.

All spandrels sections are designed to fit end to end to allow you to make virtually any length.

Spandrels look great all by themselves, however another popular way to use them is to place a porch bracket under them. A striking look. I have included a few pictures below to give you an idea. The link below will take you to our selection of Standard Porch Brackets.

- Item # Span-1 - Manufactured Wood

Hand Made 1 inch thick Manufactured wood. Primed and ready to paint. This is a nice smooth wood. Pictures here above are of a 34 inch section.

- Item # Span-2 - Solid Western Red Cedar

Constructed from solid Kiln dried Western Red Cedar. Shipped natural to allow you the choice to either stain or paint. NOTE: Cedar is a rougher wood than the above manufactured wood. Cedar is a knotty wood and inclusions are natural.   While the outside is sanded quite smooth, the inside cuts tend to be rougher, more natural. Pictures shown here are of an 18 inch section.

Installing

There are many ways, but I would offer a suggestion. Purchase a long 2x2 type of board from your local home center and cut it to fit your span exactly. Now you can mount your spandrel sections to the board. Paint everything at once and then hang as one unit. Very simple and easy to install. To achieve a seamless look where the sections butt up against each other you can use wood putty. Either way they look great.

Remember to pre drill pilot holes just slightly larger than the screw or nail you will be using to keep your wood from splitting.
